Welcome!
This website features the Poverty Point site, one of the most impressive and enigmatic archaeological sites in North America. As you learn about different aspects of archaeological method and theory this semester, you will be able to explore these topics in relation to the Poverty Point site. Although there is no substitute to actually conducting archaeological field and lab work yourself, the information and activities on Poverty Point are designed to give you a better feel for how archaeology actually works.
Kristy Golubiewski, a former URI student, is helping to design the website as part of the Student Technology Assistant (STA) Program at the University of Rhode Island, which provides assistance to faculty in the use of multi-media technology in classrooms.
